Une longue journée de route nous attend (500km) alors nous partons tôt du camp de Gardiner. Nous sommes les premiers au matin à admirer les sources chaudes en cascades à Mammoth Hot Springs. On a même rencontré là une famille de cantalous de Saint Flour... Puis nous taillons la route vers l'est au travers de Lamar Valley, toujours dans Yellowstone: là la route appartient aux bisons... On quitte Yellowstone par les montagnes du Montana, puis c'est la montée en lacets du Dead Indian Pass: en haut, le paysage est encore une fois à couper le souffle... on redescend sur le plateau du Wyoming, Cody, traversons des bad lands où on puise le gaz naturel (première richesse du Wyoming) puis Ten Sleep, avant la dernière ascension du jour, la Big Horn National Forest... La descente vers Buffalo est impressionnante... nous sommes récompensés à notre arrivée par Aude qui nous préparent un délicieux riz cuit au skillet, la poêle en fonte du Far West...
